06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Troy is a very talented young 2-way player with a ton of potential. On the mound, Troy currently shines brightest; he possesses a mid-80's fastball with arm side run and developing command. He has a good frame to support growth at the position, needs to trust his stuff, pound the zone and will benefit from staying in line to his target with his arm up and on time to deliver. Continuing to develop his fastball command is the only thing more important for Troy right now. As an OF, Troy displayed an improving crow hop to throw, a clean transfer and good arm speed. He has loose arm action with carry through his target. He will benefit from improving reads off the bat by getting reps in BP, tracking fly balls on the balls of his feet to eliminate tendency to run on heels. At the plate, Troy showed the ability to work back up the middle, flashed good extension through the zone, and appeared comfortable hitting with 2 strikes where he used the entire field to put the ball in play. He has a level path, makes contact to pressure the defense and should continue to work on staying aggressive through the zone, keeping front leg stiff through contact and keeping swing path short to the inside of the ball. Overall, Troy is a solid young player whose defensive skill set (at this time) is further along than his offensive skill set. With continued hard work and a detailed drill package, he is more than athletic enough to develop nicely with the amount of time he has.
