Official Scouting Report

12/04/2016 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Troy continues to refine his game as an impressive, young right handed hitting catcher. Offensively, he sprayed the ball to both gaps with some pop, as he showed quick hands which worked on a direct path to the ball. Lower half was fully utilized, as he exploded his hips to the pitcher, while maintaining a firm front side, after contact. Behind the dish he featured an impressive arm which was strong/accurate, even showcasing the ability to throw down to 2nd base from his knees. Blocking was also a big plus, as he showed proper footwork along with a quick drop to his knees, which allowed him to keep the ball in front consistently. Troy is a well rounded player, who shows all the skills necessary to compete at the next level.

12/06/2015 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Troy is a broad two-way player that is a C/RHP. Defensively, Troy has a live arm recording a low of 1.98 pop time. Hands are sure with the ability to frame pitches with proper technique. Blocking skills are good but he will need to improve on working to the ground quicker to create a better angle. At the plate, Troy displayed natural power with a strong lower half. His swing is fundamentally sound displaying good rhythm throughout. On the mound, Troy displayed a solid 3 pitch mix with his change up being his top off speed pitch. He gathers over the rubber, separation is on time, and arm action is clean. Grades will improve as he works on staying direct and reaches a complete finish, chest over knee. Troy displayed a solid skill set and has a bright future in this game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
