11/03/2013 - College PREP - Wilsonville (Portland), OR Troy continues to work hard and has grown in his game. This middle-infielder works quickly around the ground ball playing from right to left. He moves well toward his backhand and turns the DP quickly. Offensively, Troy shows a solid approach and good rhythm, getting back into a strong loaded position. He squares the ball up and hits it on a line. Extension through contact will help to improve power off of the bat. Viola is only a sophomore and will only continue to get better.

01/13/2012 - Arizona National Spring Training - 2012 (Pre HS) Troy is an athletic 2016 graduate who plays shortstop and pitches. In the field Troy has soft and sure hands with a quick exchange. He has fluid footwork and plays thru the ball well. His fielding position is athletic and has agile range. He is a very solid infielder and with his athleticism will only get stronger with age. At the plate he has a balanced set up and a short stride. He has fast bat speed and a good consistent bat path. He makes solid contact and is able to spray the ball to all fields. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot and shows some good movement on his fastball. He stays athletic on the mound and flashes a good mound presence. Would like to see him use more lower half and stay consistent with his delivery. Overall, Troy was one of the top infielders at the camp and has a bright future in the infield. With his abilities and knowledge of the game he will only get better with age.

10/30/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Salem, OR Troy is a young SS with solid skills. Defensively, Troy attacks the ball aggressively, his hands are soft, and his feet are active. He plays in good rhythm, he moves well laterally, and he fields out in front of his body. Troy has a quick exchange, and he throws with consistency and carry to his target. At the plate, Troy has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has fast bat speed, he keeps his hands inside the ball, and he keeps his hands high. Troy is a talented young player and can he can get even better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
