Official Scouting Report

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tucker only pitched at the Preseason All American event and continues to show a big upside on the bump. Delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. He works on a strong downhill plane. Fastball shows a range of 81-86 mph with arm side run and heavy action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control is solid as he locates well to both sides of the plate, pounding the zone.

07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East This (6'1"/175) RHP continues to pound the zone with strikes. FB now tops out at 84 mph while showing sink & run. Quick tempo keeps hitters off balance as he attacks the zone working both sides of the dish. Changeup is best off-speed showing tail which comes out deceptive to hitters. He varies his looks with runners on base, not allowing them to get a comfortable lead. Tucker has a solid skill-set and will challenge hitters every time he takes the mound.

03/22/2015 - National Tryout - Greenville, SC Tucker showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event but currently projects best on the mound for the next level but has an upside in the OF. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sharp / late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with plus arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level that will get outs. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss and works to throw more strikes. In the OF, defensive grade are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.20 60 time. In the OF, he utilizes his active feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly and displays an outstanding arm in the OF. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with ball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half.

07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Tucker is a 6'1/165 lbs hurler that showcased some feel to pitch at the Team One South Showcase presented by Baseball Factory. On the mound, he topped out at 79 MPH with his FB, threw an 11/5 CB at 60-62, and a CH with slight action at 63-66. He had a decent tempo that allowed him to repeat and he was quick with his feet to throw over to first. He varied his looks with runners on and had controlled actions. In all - Tucker is a thin/lengthy pitcher that has another 3 years to add strength for next level play.

01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Tucker is a big RHP with a tremendous upside on the mound. He has 4 pitches including a fastball with late life, curve ball with an 11/5 shape, change up with good sink, and a developing cutter. He works quick on the mound and has a good rhythm. His arm action is fluid and he gets good extension. He has good mound presence and knows how to pitch. Tucker will be a quality pitcher at the next level and will be fun to watch as he continues to physically mature. At the plate he has good balance, strong load, and sprays the ball to all fields. He showcased his quick hands and good barrel accuracy during games making consistent contact. He is a line drive hitter that shows power potential with more use of his lower half. Should be a nice option at the next level in any lineup.

07/07/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Tucker was very impressive in all respects at the Cape Cod event. On the mound he displayed command of three pitches; showed good tempo, balance point and overall mechanics. Tucker is already a varsity caliber pitcher. As a fielder he has very good arm strength/accuracy, quick/agile footwork and soft hands but his fielding is too high. At the plate Tucker has a big upside as well but he needs to better pitch selection, body control and needs to stride at the Pitcher. Tucker has all the ability to be a standout player in the future if he continues to work and is more receptive to new ideas.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
