12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Ty is 2017 graduate who is a C/OF/RHP. Behind the plate he does a pretty good job of receiving but he needs to brush up on his basic setup, smooth out his footwork and continue to work at blocking. In the outfield Ty needs to work on his footwork/agility and his basic fielding position. On the mound he battled through a tough situation in the game. His arm action/control/delivery are all a solid average but he needs to work on his landing/direction/finish. At the plate Ty's balance is centered, he makes hard contact with an on plane swing path and he has above average power but his backside is anchored (losing power from not using lower half). Also he needs to get started sooner (he is too late). If Ty works on his fundamentals and makes some adjustments at the plate he can be a successful player in the future.

08/15/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Adrian (Detroit), MI Ty is a tall, C / OF with a thin build. Behind the plate, Ty has quiet actions, he holds a good target, and he looks the ball into his glove. He tries to block and keep the ball in front and he gains ground properly. Ty has a clean exchange, and he throws with a long arm action with okay accuracy to his target. In the OF, Ty has firm / sure hands, active feet, and he makes plays on balls his hit way. He take good angles to ground balls, he fields the ball in front, and his exchange is clean. Ty has a long arm action, and he throws with decent accuracy to his cutoff man. At the plate, Ty has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He is an aggressive hitter who puts the bat on the ball and who makes decent use of his lower 1/2. Overall abilities can improve if Ty can work on the following.

Catching
1. Lower and widen base
2. Blocking
3. Long toss
Defense
1. Field more squarely
2. Play through ball
Offense
1. Level off swing
2. More lower 1/2
3. Rhythm / Timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
