Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

02/07/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Tomball (Houston), TX Ty continues to work hard and develop his skills. Offensively, this RHH stands in with centered balance and a solid base. He takes an aggressive hack as shows some pop to his pull-side. Continuing to work on swinging on a more direct path with more bat speed will help to tap into his power potential. At 1B - Ty shows good lateral range getting to GB's hit to his GS & BH. He makes the plays with soft hands and gathers well. On the mound, this LHP stays around the zone with all of his pitches. FB now tops out at 69 mph as he works it in and out. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with early break. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 to drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. Ty has upside and will only continue to progress as he's entering his sophomore season.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Ty is a two way player at 1B/LHP. On the mound Ty has some deception with his glove side and moving parts and could become a quality lefty. He can improve as a LHP with work on his arm strength utilizing towel drills and long toss as well as strengthening his lower half and creating more drive to the plate. At 1B, Ty is a nice big target with good balance and stretching abilities, can make close plays. His footwork around the bag and positioning are focus points for Ty to become a better player at 1B. Offensively, he uses his strong lower half to create good pop and he controls his barrel well. Creating more rhythm and loosening his actions will help him take the next step in his development at the plate. He is a very nice kid, a positive teammate and take well to instruction and making adjustments.

11/16/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Ty is a long, athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Ty has efficient footwork, good range to the glove side, and soft hands. He keeps the ball in front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Ty has a short arm action, he gathers himself well, and he lands in a square position. At the plate, Ty has an athletic set-up, a square stride, and an aggressive swing. He has good barrel accuracy, makes solid contact, and he can spray to all fields. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Throwing
2. Play more through
3. Finish throws
Pitching
1. Windup
2. Throw downhill
3. Finish
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
