Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

02/13/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Decker is a 2025 LHP who continues to show well. Young, medium frame has room to grow and develop moving forward. Primary lefthanded pitcher, good tempo and rhythm on the mound, looseness to delivery with a long arm action through the back getting to a high 3/4 release point. Curveball shows 3/9 shape with good tilt. Left-handed hitter, begins with a square and balanced stance. Direct and level swing allows him to spray the ball to all fields. With 4 1/2 more years to develop, this young arm has upside and is one to keep an eye on.

07/23/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ty continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. He is a quality receiver at the bag, displaying proper footwork. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 64 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with sweeping action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/08/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Ty showed nice upgrades in his all around game during his last workout in Palmyra. On the mound, Ty works in good tempo, has good balance, and shows a quick/clean arm action. He separates his hands on time, lands with good direction toward the plate, and finishes completely out over his front knee. At 1B, Ty has active feet, fields through the ball well, and throws with accuracy and momentum to his target. Offensively, this LHH has an open stance, loads well, and keeps a still head. He makes solid contact consistently, and hits line drives. Ty can can keep getting better with work on the following.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Ty is a coachable LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Ty gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Ty shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 57mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 48-52mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits at 52mph with cutting action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release more can help Ty improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Ty has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Ty is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Ty has active feet, soft hands, and he fields in a low position. He has good footwork around the bag, plays through properly, and throws with a loose arm action with momentum to his target. On the mound, Ty stands over the rubber well balanced, he works in good tempo, and repeats his delivery well. He gets good extension on his pitches and finishes completely. Offensively, Ty has a square set-up, a good load, and he stands in well balanced. He has a compact/level swing and he can spray the baseball to all fields. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
