Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

03/28/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Minneapolis, MN Ty is an OF/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the OF, Ty shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes consistent throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap power. On the mound, Ty separates his hands on time and works inline toward the plate. He extends through his release and finishes with a controlled landing. Ty shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 61-62mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 63-69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Ty is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ty is a lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.22. In the OF, he utilizes feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an open setup and aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, plays hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Ty has potential with time and room to progress his game.

10/27/2019 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Ty is a young/projectable (2023 grad) 2-way player as a RHP/OF. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He maintains a good tempo, keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. FB tops out at 76 mph while showing slight tailing action. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with good drop. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. He gets good glove side lead and stays directional toward the dish. In the OF, Lundeen hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls hit into the gaps. He secures the ball with 2-hands and remains athletic through the play with a clean transfer to throw. As a hitter, this righty stands in with a tall setup and centered balance. He gets into a loaded position and whips the barrel at pitches he likes, looking the drive the ball on a line. Continuing to 'smoothen' out his rhythm/timing will help to improve barrel accuracy and improve hard contact consistency. Ty has upside with still a lot of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
