Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ty is a talented 1B/OF prospect who has a tall, strong build. Offensively, Ty has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has a load with a long stride as his lower half leads his swing. Ty maintains good balance with a downward swing path. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to go with the ball to the opposite field. Ty also shows some power with the ability to drive the ball to the gap. In the field, Ty plays with effective footwork and creates the proper angles. He works around the ball and fields it in a square, athletic position. Ty has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. His throws are accurate across the diamond. Ty knows the position and shows smooth footwork around the bag. Overall, Ty is a gamer who plays above his raw skills and has potential to make an impact at the next level.

02/18/2018 - College PREP - Crosby (Houston), TX Ty is an athletic 2020 prospect that plays multiple positions. In the OF, Ty has an active prep step and works behind the ball. He creates momentum in his throw with his lower half and covers a lot of ground in the gaps. At 1B, Ty presents a low/early glove and works from the ground up. He gets off the bag well and creates angles to throw on double plays. At the plate, Ty keeps a quiet head and tracks the ball well. He makes hard contact and drives the ball gap to gap. Ty will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
