01/31/2016 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Ty continues to develop on the diamond. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and gets good jumps to fly-balls hit to his right and left. He works behind and through the ball - gaining ground toward his target. As a hitter - Ty shows similarly from both sides. He has a quiet/simple setup, waiting for his pitch. He takes a hack at pitches in the zone and barrels the ball up, looking to drive the middle of the field. Leveling out his swing path will help to increase hard contact consistency. This athletic 2017 grad has tools that will provide success in this his junior season.

08/17/2014 - National Tryout - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Ty continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. He has really improved his defensive abilities in the OF, displaying smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. Feet are active / aggressive and he reads balls well off the bat. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power grades will improve as he learns to load more and utilize his lower half more efficiently.

07/20/2014 - California Select Training & Competition Ty is a coachable young player who showed the ability to switch hit in California. At the plate, hands a quick, he keeps them inside the ball, and he swings from an activate load. He has a square setup, some barrel accuracy, and he makes consistent contact. Defensively, Ty reads the ball off the bat well, he shows some range, and his arm is accurate to the cutoff man.

01/26/2014 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Ty is a lean, young OF that will graduate in 2017. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down ball in making the routing plays. He plays hard, gets dirty with defensive grades improving as he learns to work to get behind balls while playing through with momentum to his target and improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter but is slightly better from the left side. He shows an open / balance setup. Hands are loose and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball from the left side, using the middle of the field well. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 3 years to further develop, Ty has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
