01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ty is a dynamic athlete who continues to get better each time we see him and still has a higher ceiling. He is quick-twitch in all that he does and he uses his speed, and ability to accelerate quickly, to impact the game. He is an instinctual and aggressive baserunner who constantly puts pressure on the defense (4.19 to 1B), and takes extra bases. He has a natural, weight shift line drive stroke from both sides of the plate that results in easy, solid contact. Ty uses the whole field well and is relaxed and confident in the box. The speed and instincts give him plus range in the OF and the ability to play CF at higher levels. He glides to balls and has an accurate arm with a clean release. Overall, this is an extremely talented 2017 player with a bright future.

04/12/2015 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Ty is a switch-hitting OF who has tools that will turn some heads. In the OF, he shows active prep and can cover ground with some serious speed (60 yard dash of 6.60). He is sure handed, gathers well and gains ground toward his target. Arm is long & loose as he fires strong/accurate throws into his target. With the bat, he currently shows slightly more natural from the left side. He works back into a strong loaded position with good leverage ready to jump on a pitch his likes. Swing path is level as he connects with pop, hitting line-drives to all parts of the field. Working to engage and drive his lower 1/2 more (RHH) will help to increase pop off of the bat. He is a top of the line-up type of guy as he will barrel the ball up and be a threat on the bases. Sawka's skill-set will translate well as he will play at a high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
