Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Tyler is a talented/projectable (RHP/1B) who pounds to the zone with strikes. He works tall, drives downhill utilizing his frame and fires from a quick/clean arm action. He commands his 'heavy' FB working both sides of the plate - 85-87 mph. Hitters have a tough time squaring it up as it shows late arm-side run. Curveball has 11/5 shape with late action and tight spin, showing to be a solid out pitch. Changeup has good run as he throws it with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. He mixes his pitches well and works to get ahead in the count. He challenged hitters and struck out 9 in only 3 innings of work! At 1B, he shows his athleticism with good lateral actions and soft hands when fielding the GB. At the plate, this righty displays a tall/open stance with rhythm to load. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and turns on it with power, driving it on a line. Avery is a powerful right handed arm who will give his team a chance to win every time that he toes the rubber.

06/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Las Vegas, NV Tyler is a tall, strong 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows fluid actions. He shows active prep with smooth actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Exchange is clean with accuracy and carry on his throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (91 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76 mph. Breaking ball sits from 65-66 mph with 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 69-70 mph with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
