12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic
Tyler is a coachable 2-way player who showed well during his time at the Recruiting Classic. Offensively, this LH swinger stands in well with centered balance and a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel through the zone at pitches he likes. He squares the ball up and has the ability to drive it the other way. He has good zone awareness as he drew 4 walks at the event. Engaging more of his lower 1/2 will help to increase power at the plate. At 1B, Tyler hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He gathers well and makes the plays. He moves well around the 1B bag and can pick throws out of the dirt. On the mound, this LHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a deceptive 3/4 arm slot. He repeats his delivery well and attacks hitters. FB tops out at 75 mph while breaking ball has 2/8 shape. Changeup is best off speed pitch as it shows tail as he works to keep it down in the zone. Added FB velocity will help with more lower 1/2 drive downhill off of the rubber. Tyler has upside and will find success over the next few years on the diamond.
