Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

07/06/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Tyler is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Tyler keeps his eyes on target, he works in good tempo, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. He works well to his balance point, and is around the zone with his pitches. Work on mechanics, arm action, and added strength will help mound effectiveness improve. In the OF, Tyler has active footwork to the ball, he fields athletically, and covers ground well. He presents his glove, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy to his target. Not drifting and added arm strength can help OF abilities improve. Offensively, Tyler has a square set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He swings on plane and uses his lower body. Better timing, barrel accuracy, and added bat speed can help hitting improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
