07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One
Brassfield is a gamer who is coachable and will do whatever it takes to help to team. In the OF, he shows active footwork as he moves light on his feet. He has a clean exchange and gains ground toward his target, firing accurate throws (80 mph). At the plate, Tyler displays an open setup with fluid rhythm. He puts the barrel on the ball consistently and proves to be tough out. On the mound, he maintains fluid tempo and repeats his mechanics well. He keeps the ball down in the zone and will get ground balls and outs. Tyler hustles all over the field and brings the energy level up a notch, getting the most out of his teammates.
06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1
Tyler showed well in his outing with Baseball Factory at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, he threw three pitches with good feel for his off-speed (CB / Circle CH). He was consistent with his release point, and stayed low in the zone. He had a slow tempo, that was repeatable, and very deceptive to hitters timing and rhythm. Tyler also played in the OF, getting good reads off the bat, and taking good angles/routes to the ball. He read hitters well and adjusted his positioning based on reading the barrel. Mechanically, he worked behind and through the ball with good feel. Offensively, he worked well through contact with lower half strength. He struck the ball hard to his power alley and was disciplined with pitch selection. In all - Tyler is a quiet, hard working player that has good projection in either the OF or as a hurler at the next level.
04/13/2014 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA
Tyler is a junior OF/RHP with a good baseball frame at 6'3/160 lbs. Offensively, he hits from a controlled stance with good separation and an accurate barrel. Adding rhythm and fluidity within his swing - allowing his hands and hips to work together - will increase hit ability and power potential. In the outfield, he takes decent angles to the ball and plays through with some athleticism. More reps, and a long toss program will strengthen his defensive skill. On the bump, he throws three pitches - topping out at 76 MPH with his fastball. He twists a breaking ball from 63-66 MPH with flashes of late break. He has good rhythm and free/easy arm action with front extension. All in all - Tyler is a projectable player with a good frame and good consistent ability on both sides of the ball.
