09/01/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 12-14) Tyler is a strong kid that has good hand action when he barrels the ball up. Tyler can really work on improving flexibility in his lower half to help his hips operate better. He can start by making sure he is in an athletic stance with his feet no wider then shoulder width apart. We talked about also making sure his knees do not extend over his toes. The position he sets himself in makes it hard for the rest of his body to work. Tyler can work on taking his time to make sure he is in the proper set up each swing. From there he needs to work on better rotation of his lower body, with his back foot, finishing heel over toe. He shows the ability to barrel the ball up with decent hand action delivering the barrel. If he is able to use his lower half this will increase his power and allow him to drive the ball. Tyler showed the willingness to listen and needs to be open-minded that fixing his lower half with take time and hard work.
