07/31/2009 - Pirate City World Series - Session 1 Tyler is a young two-way player on the mound and as a catcher with an average frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is near average and he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet work well in line with his target but needs to work on his transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.22- 2.50. Receiving and blocking skills are solid average with both tools showing well at the next level. Arm strength is solid average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, Dennison has above average abilities with solid average power through balanced approach. Hands are quick and direct, generating bat speed with strength in his swing as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-79 mph with sink on a downhill plane, creating tough angles on hitters. Off speed pitches are slightly above average but should continue to work on command and control. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has potential behind the plate and on the mound, and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he improves.
