Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

03/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Jacksonville, FL Brian showed solid upgrades in his all around game during his last workout with The Factory. Arm strength increased to 88 MPH, 60 time lowered to 7.5, and hitting numbers spiked. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, a loose/clean arm circle, and he works on a downhill plane. He separates his hands on time, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and throws strikes. More glove side lead and lower body will help mound effectiveness get better. At 1B, Brian has active footwork, soft hands, and he works from the ground-up. He makes plays, picks the ball well, and has an accurate arm with carry to his target. A wider fielding base will help defense get even better. Offensively, this LHH has a square/athletic stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes hard/level contact, he has power in his bat, and he uses his lower 1/2.

12/12/2020 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend Tyler is a talented L/L (1B/LHP) who showed well during his time at the Florida Regional Skills Weekend. With the bat, he shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. He whips the barrel to and through the zone on a short/direct path, he stays connected and he squares the ball up, creating consistent/hard contact. On the mound, this LHP steps onto the mound with a solid presence. He maintains fluid tempo and stays directional. FB tops out at 75 mph as he hits his spots well. Breaking ball shows 12/6 shape with late/sharp break. Changeup has good sinking action and will get GB outs. Ellis is a skilled athlete who has a ton of upside and a bright future ahead.

12/14/2019 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Tyler is an athletic and talented 2025 LHP prospect. On the bump, Tyler gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He cuts himself off but does a good job of repeating his delivery. He rotates toward his target, but continuing to ride the back leg toward the plate will help him work down hill. He throws his fastball for strikes, he throws his curveball down in the zone, and has good feel for a change. At the plate, Tyler starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and has smooth actions with his load. He gets to balance with his lower half and rotates his lower half to the ball. He attacks the inside part of the ball, he keeps the barrel on plane, and looks to drive the ball to all fields. Tyler will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
