12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Tyler is a lean, solid 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Defensive grade are well above average as he shows smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Garner continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting and power numbers through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he adds more overall body strength. At the event, he was 2 for 10 with a 2B but made consistent hard contact. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. HE maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed pitches show potential as quality pitches for the next level. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Tyler has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.
