08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 In Tyler's latest Factory outing at Pirate City, he showed some good improvements, in particular with his defense at first base and with his power at the plate. Defensively, his glove presentation, sure hands, and pickability make him a solid asset at first. He throws from a good over the top arm slot and has clean actions and consistent play. Continuing to work on quickening his feet and his lateral movement will help his already good scores continue to improve. Offensively, he has a good setup, smooth load, and a good bat path. He keeps his balance throughout the swing and generates fast bat speed with potential for explosive bat speed when he keeps his top hand on the bat longer. On the mound, he throws two pitches, a fastball and curve. He has on time separation, a controlled balance point, and good extension with his lead arm. Finishing better (needs to land more open), keeping his shoulders level, and developing a change up are some areas for him to work on. Overall, Garside projects best as a 1B that can pick it and hit, but can compete on the bump, mixing pitches and getting outs.
