01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tyler is an exceptional RHP in the 2023 class. On the mound, he shows poise and composure. Works with tremendous tempo and can put hitters away. Has repeatable mechanics and likes to pound the bottom of the zone. He operates with 3 pitches from a high three quarter arm slot. His FB sat 83-5 with good cutting actions. His CB was described by scouts as nasty and had tight spin with 12-6 spin. His CH is a work in progress and when grip feels and work, he will be able to pitch backwards with hit based upon his projectability. In 3 innings of work, he struck out 7 elite type hitters and allowed only 2 base runners. Overall, Tyler is an elite arm in the 2023 class and will help a college staff in some capacity next season.

09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Tyler continues to shine and did so again at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and can cover a ton of ground to his right and left. He works to get behind and plays through, creating momentum to his target. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws on a line through his target (89 mph). At the plate, he shows a squared setup with patience waiting for a pitch he likes. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. On the mound, he shows a controlled, repeatable delivery allowing his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 81-84 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He shows a great feel for pitching and maintains composure on the bump. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. This 2023 grad has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on.

09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-84 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Tyler continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are now well above average as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Tyler is a tall, solid, and athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 3 years to further develop, Tyler has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
