12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Tyler is an athletic built C/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Tyler has a tall, open setup. He has a smooth load with a controlled stride and rhythm. Tyler shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path producing consistent contact. He has a strong lower half which he uses throughout his swing. Tyler has good coordination between his hips and hands. He has a line drive approach and can drive the ball to each gap with power. Behind the plate, Tyler has a solid setup and presents a good target. He tracks the ball well and receives the ball with a firm glove. Tyler has a quick, clean exchange leading into a quick arm action. He gains ground and shows online throws to 2B. Tyler does a nice job blocking the baseball with good angles. He recovers well and moves quickly. On the mound, Tyler has a confident approach and stays composed. He has a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Tyler gets good arm extension and can benefit from a shorter stride. He stays square to home plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. He features a developing curveball and solid changeup. Overall, Tyler is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to get even better.

09/30/2018 - College PREP - Raleigh, NC Tyler is a tall, lean C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.21-2.30 with accuracy on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
