07/31/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Southwest Championships 18U Participant 7/31 - FB 84-85mph, good arm side run, 79mph breaking ball, smooth motion

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tyler is a solid, muscular 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects slightly better on the mound for the next level but has potential at 3B as well. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his outstanding arm action to work free and quick to the plate. Arm strength is outstanding as he topped out at 85 mph with fastball showing a range of 83-85 mph. Breaking ball is a tremendous pitch that will get outs at the next level, displaying 12/6 shape with sharp break and late depth. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At 3B, foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. He utilizes his athletic feet well in attacking balls and playing through well. Hands are soft / cure but needs to present more out front to continuing to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level / direct swing path. He has strength in his swing, displaying outstanding power numbers as he shows good barrel accuracy and extension through the ball. Tyler has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

07/31/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Southwest Championships Participant Athletic body, good command of all 3 pitches, FB: 80-82mph, good mechanics, good balance point, smooth separation, long arm swing, good extension at the plate, good approach, shows power, runs well

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
