10/21/2018 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Tyler continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times continue to drop, now a 2.18 time as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid, flexible base with soft glove that sticks balls in the zone. Blocking skills are a plus as he moves well laterally and gets down quickly, centering balls out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half with proper weight transfer through the swing.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.30 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind dish. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD Tyler is a coachable hitter who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and shows good tempo getting into his load. He comes through well with his lower half and produces good contact to his pull side. Tyler can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. Overall, Tyler is a solid hitter who has the potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Tyler is a strong, athletic catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Tyler catches in a square position, he sits in low, and feet are playable. He covers ground well, has a quick exchange, and throws with a short arm action with nice carry through to 2nd base. Catching can improve with more sound footwork, work on blocking, and continuing to add arm strength. Offensively, Tyler has a crouched set-up, square stride, and good balance. He is a strong hitter with a short bat path, a level swing, and strength in his swing. Hitting numbers can get better with more live hands, better separation, and more lower ½.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
