Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

12/14/2019 - Nor Cal Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Tyler is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Tyler shows quick footwork and blocks well to his glove side. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Keeping his glove down when blocking can help Tyler improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets into his load well. He hits against a strong front side and uses the entire field well. Tyler can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. On the mound, Tyler works with a clean arm and keeps his eyes on target, finishing square to the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 49-53mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 54-58mph. Extending through his release more can help Tyler improve as a pitcher. Overall, Tyler is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
