Official Scouting Report

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Tyler is an athletic middle infielder who also pitches. He cut nearly a half second of his 60 yard dash since we last saw him, coming in at a 7.27, which is great for a rising freshman. In the infield, he has firm hands, active footwork, and shows playable range while fielding from an athletic position. He can work on improving his fielding position and fielding the ball more out front. At the plate, he has a good setup, good balance, and fast bat speed. He shows lots of power potential in his swing if he can stay consistent with his swing path. Areas to work on for improvement are pitch recognition and using his lower half more. On the mound, he gets to a good balance point and shows a good tempo. He has a lot of movement on his fastball that could only get better with more extension. With more time on the mound, better finish of his pitches, and a more consistent breaking ball, Tyler will be a nice option on the mound in the future as well. Tyler was one of the better athletes at the event and with more experience, he will only continue to improve.

04/07/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Louisville, KY Tyler is a solid, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Tyler has soft hands, fluid footwork, and he fields the ball aggressively. He gets rid of it quickly and throws with a short / quick arm with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Tyler keeps his eyes on target, his shoulders level, and he lands in a square position. At the plate, Tyler has a tall / square set-up, a short stride, and a level swing. He keeps his head on the ball and swings in good rhythm. Abilities can improve if Tyler can work on the following.

Defense
1. Field out front
2. Play more through
Pitching
1. Lengthen arm action
2. Finish
3. Balance point
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. More lower 1/2
3. More direct hands to the ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
