Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

09/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Tyler is a talented 2-way player at 1B/LHP who can swing it. With the stick, Tyler displays an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He whips his barrel quickly through the zone and drives pitches with power to his pull side. Defensively at 1B, he takes a prep step and works into a low fielding position. He makes aggressive cuts/angles to the GB and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix and keeps his eyes locked in. He delivers from a 3/4 arm slot and looks to keep his pitches down in the zone. FB tops out at 61 mph as it has some movement. Slider has 2/8 shape with early action. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Work downhill
2. Stride-balance
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Drive outside pitch the opposite way
2. Level out swing path
3. More lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
