Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Preseason All-America - 2010 Tyler showed good abilities in his game during his time at the UA Preseason All-America. He currently projects better at 3B than on the mound. At 3B, Tyler has good hands, feet, and a good exchange. He fields the ball out in front of his body, he makes plays, and he throws accurately across the diamond. If Tyler can keep his front side from flying open, he may be able to get more on his throws. On the mound, Tyler has good balance and is inline with his delivery. He throws strikes, pitches to contact, and isn't afraid to go at hitters. Pitching grades can improve if Tyler can avoid throwing across his body and add more arm strength. Offensively, Tyler has good balance and bat speed. He has a level swing, can hit to all fields, and has pop in his bat. Tyler makes good use of his hips, and if he can avoid flying open, we could see hitting and power grades continue to improve.

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Preseason All America - 2009 Tyler continues to show as a two way player now projecting best at 3B where he has solid abilities. Foot speed is near average and does need to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Arm strength is solid average displaying some carry but needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and raise velocities on the mound. Defensive abilities are sound and sure as he hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process. He does need further development for consistency at the next level but has potential. He was 3 for 6 at the event. On the mound abilities are average to near average and needs to concentrate his work as being an everyday player. Hollick has potential with room to improve.

10/24/2008 - Team One Futures Showcase Tyler is a young two way player on the mound and at 3B with a slender body that does show projection as it continues to mature. Arm strength is solid average and does need to continue to build arm strength through a strict long toss program. Breaking ball is near above average displaying solid bite. Changeup is solid average showing some feel with average arm speed. He throws strikes but does leave balls up in the zone. At the plate, Hollick has solid average ability and power. He displays quick hands through a line drive approach. If velocities continue to rise, Tyler's stock on the mound will climb in a hurry. He will be fun to watch over the next 2 years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
