Lower half works well through the swing and he delivers the barrel with late explosion. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. He moves well laterally and shows a solid backhand. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 81 mph. Fastball shows heavy action with arm side run and sink. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

He shows off impressive raw power at the plate, using his large frame and quick hands to generate good bat speed. He is a bulldog on the mound, attacking hitters with his stuff and not backing down from a challenge. He features three pitches including a fastball that tops out at 76mph but has projection left, a slider that flashes late break and a sinking changeup with good feel. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
