Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Tyler is a coachable RHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, Tyler shows confidence and keeps his pitches around the zone. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 63-66mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Being controlled getting to a balance point can help Tyler improve as a pitcher. In the field, Tyler takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He works behind the ball and fields with a firm glove. He gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Tyler can improve defensively by shortening his arm action. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into a simple load and sprays the ball to all fields. Driving his lower half more an help Tyler improve as a hitter. Overall, Tyler is solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/21/2019 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Tyler is a lean, athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Tyler shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76 mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-66 mph with late / sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 66-68 mph sinking action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Tyler can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He drives through well with his lower half and makes solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help him improve as a hitter. Overall, Tyler is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
