08/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) to his target but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap to gap pop.

07/12/2019 - College PREP - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Tyler is an athletic and thin 2023 2-way prospect. On the bump, Tyler gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works downhill. He rotates toward his target and tries to pound the bottom half of the strike zone. In the OF, Tyler is aggressive to the ball, he fields the ball in an athletic position, and has a clean exchange with his throws. He has good routes and makes the routine play. At the plate, Tyler starts in a crouched stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has good timing to the ball. He stays inside the ball, has an aggressive leg kick, and has a pull side approach. Tyler will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Tyler is an athletic 2023 2-way prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the week. In the OF, Tyler starts in an athletic position and has a quick first step to the ball. He works behind fly balls and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing. Continuing to build arm strength and foot speed will improve his overall skill set at all positions. At the plate, Tyler starts in an athletic stance, hits off a firm front side, and controls the barrel. He needs to load his hands back into the drive position and keep a quiet head. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside drive with his lower half will help him work the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Tyler gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a strong glove side. He shows confidence and competes on every pitch. Continuing to work on downhill will improve both his fastball and off speed pitches. Tyler will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
