12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Tyler continues to improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-75 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and sinking action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Tyler is an athletic SS/RHP prospect with a baseball player's build who is a good teammate and a hard worker. He is a slick fielder at short who can make plays to both sides of his body and has plenty of arm to make strong throws from the hole. His feet work efficiently with good lateral agility as he uses his athleticism to show extended range and field balls athletically. His hands are soft to field and quick to transfer and release, making on target feeds and strong throws to first with plenty of carry. At the plate, he has an athletic, balanced setup with an on time stride and load to a powerful bat angle. His swing is fluid and on plane through the zone to make consistent line drive contact for plenty of base hits. On the hill, this right hander features a fastball that sits in the high 60's with tailing action that he uses to work ahead of hitters. His delivery is smooth and repeatable as he gets to a consistent release point to show control of his pitches. Working on strengthening his front side will allow him to stay in line to plate and free his arm action to add velocity and movement. Tyler is an exciting, young prospect with lots of potential on the baseball field.

12/04/2016 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Tyler is a right handed hitting shortstop who will graduate in 2020. In the infield, he showed solid footwork which allowed him to range to his right and left very well, along with sure hands which were presented out in front to field. Long tossing to improve arm strength will help to round at his game at SS. Offensively, he showed an athletic setup which allowed him to remain balanced throughout his swing, along with a firm front side in his lower 1/2. Hands worked on a direct path to the ball, however, getting his hands into a load position earlier will help with power to all fields. As a whole, Tyler is a solid young player with impressive skills, who still has much room to grow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
