08/05/2018 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Tyler is a talented LHP/1B prospect who has a versatile skill set. On the mound, Tyler works downhill and keeps the ball low in the zone. He has a balanced delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and cuts off his release. He lands open to home plate and can benefit from a longer stride. Tyler finishes with his chest upright. He commands his fastball with arm side run at 75-80 MPH. Tyler also locates both his medium breaking curveball and deceptive changeup. Offensively, Tyler has a square setup with a centered balance and firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and short stride. Tyler shows explosive bat speed with a short swing path. He shows great hips and deliver hard contact with the ball jumping off his bat. Tyler has the ability to drive the ball to the pull side with power. In the field, Tyler plays with quick, active footwork and agile actions. He fields the ball in an athletic position with a firm glove. He has a quick exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Tyler has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Tyler is a well-rounded prospect who has talent on both sides of the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
