01/29/2017 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Tyler is a fit, athletic two-way prospect with the ability to positively contribute in multiple areas on the field. His command on the mound is his calling card as a left hander that can spot up and keep hitters off balance. He works from a high 3/4 arm slot with an easy, repeatable delivery, featuring a tailing fastball in the upper 70's and a 1-7 curveball that he spins well and shows feel for. He is compact in his motion with an easy load and good balance to get his loos arm through, keeping it in sync with his body to command his pitches. In the OF, his fluid footwork and athleticism give him agile range to both sides. He fields smoothly in a low positon with soft hands and shows a strong crow hop to throw accurately to his target. His hands are loose at the dish, working on a level path to the ball with whip through the zone. His bat angle is strong and he makes consistent, square contact to spray line drives to all fields. Incorporating his lower half more will improve power moving forward. Tyler is an intriguing prospect we look forward to continue following.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Tyler worked well as a LHP/OF at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. In the OF, he worked aggressive tot he baseball to get into a good fielding position, on-time. He was sure with the glove to field and threw with momentum to his targets. Offensively, the lefty had a line-drive approach with a simple move to hit. He had an athletic setup and allowed the baseball to travel deep, hitting to all fields. On the hill, he threw a FB form 72-76, spun a 2/8 CB from 62-66, and threw a CH with sink from 66-68. He was balanced in his delivery and had good deception with late action on his stuff. He repeated with a smooth tempo and had good front side work to keep him in-line. All in all - Tyler is a projectable two-way guy that has a chance to play at a very high level.

08/09/2015 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Tyler is a young (2018 grad) 2-way player as a LHP/OF. On the bump, this lefty throws a FB & CB from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose arm action. He maintains fluid tempo and repeats his delivery well. Separation is smooth as he keeps his eyes on the target and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 69-73 mph as he fills up the zone with strikes. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with tight spin as it compliments his FB well. He finishes complete and in an athletic fielding position. More lower 1/2 drive and getting on a long toss program (to build arm strength) will help to increase velocity on his FB. In the OF, Tyler has active footwork and is aggressive to track down fly-balls to his right and left. He works into position behind the fly-ball and secures it with 2-hands. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup as he waits back for his pitch. Swing is short/compact through a level path as he connects and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. More extension through contact and more lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Tyler is a young player who has upside and will continue to develop as he works hard and physically matures (gains strength).

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
