09/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Tyler continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 83 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

12/02/2018 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Tyler is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Tyler makes the routine plays and makes a quick exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Tyler improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets good extension through the ball and drives to the opposite field. Tyler can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Tyler gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Tyler shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 52-56mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 59-62mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through on his release more can help Tyler improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Tyler has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
