08/17/2014 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Tyler is a tall, lean catcher that will graduate in 2016. Feet are quick / active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times shows a range of 1.93-2.28 with accuracy and carry on his throws as he displays tremendous arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Tyler shows a crouched / squared stance with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through the point of contact, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
