07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Riley had a solid showing at the event in the MIF with a promising future on the diamond. At SS, feet / hands work well together through the fielding process and he moves well laterally, displaying range. He is sure handed and shows big play potential as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life and on line carry to his throws. At the plate he showed an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered. He battles at the plate and proved to be a tough out.

07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Riley improved his hitting abilities at the plate through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating outstanding bat speed through a short / direct path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach, displaying gap to gap power. At 2B, he utilizes his quick feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Hands are soft and sure as he makes the plays. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength and work to get rid of the baseball quickly to improve arm grade.

06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Tyler is a 5'10/160 lbs MIF that will graduate in 2016. Offensively, he flashed quick hands and a flat stroke, generating line-drives to all fields. He has good eye hand coordination and will continue to improve as he controls his head at contact. Defensively, he made plays by getting to spots on-time. He was passive and will benefit from gaining ground to come get with his hands in front. Overall - Tyler is a projectable 2B that has plus hit ability.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tyler has shown that he is a coachable player and will work to improve his game. Defensively he has great pre-pitch movement that leads to taking the proper first step in fielding grounders. His footwork is above average and helps him make the plays in the infield. Occasionally Tyler works high-to-low when fielding, and would benefit from staying low the entire time to properly read grounders. Sticking his nose into grounders will also help as he tends to stab at the ball occasionally. At the plate, Tyler uses all fields and is short to the ball with a direct swing path. Working on his extension in his swing and not being so narrow should improve offensive grades. Overall, Tyler has room to grow and develop through strength training and long toss. His ability to make adjustments in his game should help generate looks from coaches at the next level.

09/21/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series East - Jupiter, FL Riley featured versatile defensive ability in the infield, highlighted by sure hands. He moved his feet well and stayed under control in his approach to the ball. He played low and with his glove out front, and secured the ball well. Actions were compact and clean, and he played through the ball well. Arm action was short, and he showed arm strength to turn the double play from 2B and the get it across the infield from 3B. At the plate, he hit from an athletic setup. His trigger had some size, especially in his front foot action, which caused him a little trouble in getting his weight up to his front side through contact. His route to contact was solid, and he worked through the zone on a mostly level path. He ran the 60 yard dash in 7.40 on a slightly soft and slow track.

06/07/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Southeast Championships 16U Participant Athletic, gap power, uses the whole field, bat stays in the zone, good balance, nice approach, runs well

05/24/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Memorial Day Classic 16U Participant Tall, skinny, room to grow, good power, great middle approach at the plate, short and quick to the ball, hits where its pitched, lets it travel, smooth transfer and release, strong arm from 3B

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
