05/20/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack, NY Tyler keeps showing improvement as an athletic 2B/RHP. In the field, Tyler continues to show good actions by using his fluid feet to create angles and reaching balls in the holes. He shows a low fielding position and presents soft hands out front of his body while making clean exchanges into accurate throws from multiple arm slots. On the mound, Tyler has improved his already solid mechanics with his three pitches (4SM FB, 2SM FB and CB). He has good balance with a live arm and good arm action (High 3/4 arm slot), extending through the zone upon release. Both fastballs show late run with solid velocity (4SM 73-75mph/ 2SM 72-74mph) and has good control (11/15 strikes). Tyler can improve on the mound by using more of his lower half and adding a CH to his arsenal. At the plate, Tyler continues to show good actions through a line drive approach. He has a crouched set up with a square stride and a good back side hand load. Rhythm is smooth and fluid as he keeps his balance center and shows a firm front half, utilizing his legs in his swing. Tyler keeps a flat, direct swing path and makes consistent contact with the ball, extending through the zone upon contact. Tyler can improve offensively by keeping his hands inside and staying short to the ball. Tyler is young and continues to show promise on the field with his improvements.

09/04/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Troy (Albany), NY Tyler showed nice overall improvements all over the field during his time in Troy, NY. He improved abilities at 2nd base, showing active footwork, clean hands, and a presentable glove. Tyler has a good backhand, a clean exchange, and a short arm action with accuracy to his target. Continuing to field out in front and adding arm strength will continue to help INF skills improve. On the hill, Tyler has a clean arm action, on-time separation, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He shows solid overall mechanics and with added physical strength and continued reps, mound effectiveness will continue to improve. Offensively, Tyler is an aggressive hitter with a proper load, good bat speed, and he uses his lower body. He swings in good rhythm, makes square contact, and flashes a line drive approach. More bat speed and improved timing can help hitting grades rise.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Tyler continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 2B, he displays proper footwork and moves well laterally. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will continue to increase as he increases foot quickness. He did throw on the mound for the first time with fastball showing a range of 63-65 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/04/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Troy (Albany), NY Tyler is a 2B who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at 2B, he shows athletic actions as he gets into a square fielding position on GB's. He fields the ball with soft hands and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH uses a middle of the field approach with fluid rhythm to load. He rips his lower 1/2 through and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Attack the ball more
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Shorten up swing
2. Improve bat speed
3. Extend more through contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
