Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHPPosition Projection

09/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Boise, ID Tyler continues to shine on the diamond. He only showed on the mound at the event but has improved his arm strength as he threw his top velocity to date at 66 mph. Delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work loose and easy to the plate. Offensively, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get his stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, abilities have improved as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 57 mph. Fastball showed a range of 55-57 mph with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Boise, ID Tyler is a (2023-grad) as a 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he makes active cuts/angles and tries to get into a square fielding position on GB's. He comes up with a clean transfer and makes accurate throws on double plays. On the hill, this lefty has good command with his 3-pitch mix. He delivers from a 3/4 arm slot as he works in line and finishes strong towards home plate. With the bat, Tyler presents an athletic setup and gets back into a good load. He swings on-plane through the zone and drives pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Prep step
2. Stay low
3. Develop soft hands
Pitching
1. Strong frontside
2. Use more lower 1/2
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Timing
3. Improve bat speed/hands

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
