  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Tyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and shows a bright future on the diamond. He did show at SS for the first time at the event. Defensive abilities are now solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He shows active footwork and presents his glove out front to field. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball with fast bat speed (81 mph exit velocity) which leads to hard contact. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows arm side run but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Tyler showed on the mound and at 1B for the first time at the event. He currently, continues to project best on the mound for the next level. On the mound, delivery is fluid and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work loose and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power is best showed to the pull side. At the event he was 2 for 8 with a 2B. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

10/28/2018 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Tyler is a tall, lanky SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and works in line to his target. Arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-83 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with running action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.08. In the MIF, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are and work through a level swing path. He has some strength in his swing and makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has an upside on the mound with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
