Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (HS) Tyler continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Cutter has tight spin with short break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable on the field.

04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Binghamton, NY Tyler is a OF/LHP in the 2024 class. In the field, he has fluid feet (6.94 runner) and gains ground to the baseball. He gets behind the baseball well and works through it in an athletic and squared position. Pocket has feel and his exchanges are clean. Arm is accurate with carry at 75 velo. Working to throw the top of the baseball and release downhill will quicken his release. On the mound, he shows a repeatable delivery and solid mechanics. Scouts described his actions as smooth. His FB sat 71-3 and worked the bottom half of the zone. His CB sat 57-60 with 1-7 shape and is an out pitch for him. His Ch cuts well at 65-7. In the box, he demonstrates a short and repeatable stroke through the zone. Swing is short and is balance is advanced. Creates line drive production to the pull side. Overall, Tyler has the ability to stick as a two-way player and the future is bright for him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
