01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tyler continued to show as a prospect at the UAAAPS Tournament. Behind the plate, Tyler shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in a low, square position and receives pitches with a firm glove. He throws from a high 3/4 angle with a quick release to 2B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. Tyler is a skilled prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Tyler is an impressive athlete who has worked to improve his game and who plays with great energy. He is a wall defensively behind the plate, smothering the ball when blocking side-to-side and receiving pitches with a firm wrist. He sets up in an athletic stance, presenting a low target while showing smooth footwork and a quiet glove. His hands are quick to transfer and release to make strong, accurate throws to second (1.98 pop time). At the plate, he shows a polished approach that he stays committed to. He has loose, quick hands to work on a level path through the zone and make hard contact from gap to gap. Tyler is a very exciting prospect who looks primed for the next level.

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Tyler is a strong C prospect who continues to show improvements on the diamond. Tyler has improved his catching abilities through an athletic stance and receives the ball with soft hands. He shows quick footwork and is very agile moving to block balls in the dirt. He has a quick exchange to throw with a quick release which helps lower his pop time to 1.95 seconds. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Tyler can improver as a hitter by driving his lower half through the zone. Overall, Tyler is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/17/2017 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Tyler is an athletic catcher with a strong lower half and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a clean transfer / exchange in getting rid of the baseball. Pop times show a range of 2.12-2.40 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking and is a wall behind the plate. Tyler has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
