Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RF/3BPosition Projection

11/29/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Davie, FL Switzer stands at 5-foot-9 and nearly 170 pounds, and reached 81 mph bat exit velocity. He used his backside well through contact to help generate speed and strength and impact, and did a good job of hitting the ball to all fields during his round of batting practice. He would benefit from eliminating excess head movement, and needs to work on staying more square with his front side as he begins his move to contact. Defensively, he moved his feet efficiently and showed some body control. He got to the ball well and generated some momentum through the play on the ball, but needs to eliminate some extra steps in order to quicken up his release.

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Tyler is a strong rising senior that projects as a OF and 3B. At the dish, Tyler is a strong, balanced hitter with a square stance. His stride is soft; hands are quiet, with some feel for the plate. He shows signs of pop to the pull side and with more lower half and looser actions, hitting with consistency will become easier. Defensively, Tyler has solid range with help from his improved 60-time and 5-10-5. As he gets into a better pre pitch routine and develops more arm strength, Tyler will see himself get a quicker first step and throw with ease. Tyler has shown his ability to improve over each outing which is evident from his hardworking mentality.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
