09/20/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Lewiston, ME Tyler is a hard worker who continues to develop his skills. On the mound, Turner works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and drives off of the rubber downhill toward the dish. FB has late run and sink that hitters will have a hard time squaring up. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed - complimenting his FB well. He pounds the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. Developing a more consistent release point on his CB will help to improve break and effectiveness. At 2B, Tyler hustles into position behind the GB. He gathers well and gives accurate DP feeds. Fielding the ball more out in front along with playing through it more toward his target will help to improve skills at 2B. Offensively, this RHH has fluid rhythm to load as he waits for his pitch. He takes an aggressive hack and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. More power potential is there if he can engage his lower 1/2 more throughout the swing. Only a 2018 grad - Tyler still has a ton of time to make the necessary adjustments to get his game where he wants it to be.

06/07/2015 - National Tryout - Medford (Boston), MA Tyler continues to work hard on the diamond. As a pitcher, this righty has smooth actions while firing from a long/loose arm action. He drives off the mound, in-line toward the plate and throws strikes consistently. FB now tops out at 76 mph while showing slight run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with early action. At 2B, Tyler hustles into a square fielding position and tracks the ball into his mitt. He has a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target at 1B. Presenting his glove and fielding the ball more out in front will help to improve his skills defensively. At the plate, this RHH has an aggressive approach as he's looking to swing it. He swings on a level path and drives the ball on a line. More power potential is there with more lower 1/2 drive. Only a 2018 grad - Tyler still has time to work on and develop his skills.

11/09/2014 - National Tryout - Middletown (Hartford), CT Tyler continues to show as a RHP/2B and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 2B, defensive grade has improved as he works to square balls up and presents hands out front, on time. He plays hard with a lot of energy with defensive grade improving as he attacks balls more and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared / balanced setup. Hand are loose and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will increase as he learns to use his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 break with loose spine and gradual break. He slows arm speed on changeup, tipping pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, throws more strikes, and develops better off speed.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Tyler is a primary pitcher who showed good composure on the mound. He works quick and pounds the zone with his fastball. He understands the importance of getting ahead and works hard with his catcher in controlling the game. At the plate Tyler is a contact hitter that consistently hit line drives during games and BP. He has good barrel accuracy and a solid approach seeing a lot of pitches.

06/01/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Medford (Boston), MA Tyler continues to work hard on his game. With the bat, this RHH shows an athletic setup with patience in the box. He delivers the barrel on a level path, connects and drives the ball with extension. At 2B, he fields the ball cleanly and fires accurate throws to 1B. Developing his footwork will allow him to have a more fluid approach to fielding the GB. On the mound, FB now tops out at 66 mph while he keeps it down in the zone. He gets good glove side lead and works in-line toward his target. A skilled player - Tyler still has a lot of time to develop his game.

02/17/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Tyler is a 2-way player as a RHP/2B. On the mound, he has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He remains compact, drives off with his lower 1/2 and works in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 67 mph and shows arm-side run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with tight spin and is good out pitch. He works the zone and throws strikes. At 2B, Tyler works to get into a square fielding position and makes the plays. He has a clean exchange and can turn the DP. At the plate, this RHH gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. He turns on the ball and shows some pull-side pop. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
