Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

06/24/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Tyler showed improvements on the mound and at 3B during his last workout with the Factory. Radar velocity improved to 57 MPH, Tyler showed a clean arm circle on the hill, he keeps his eyes on target, and gets good extension on his pitches. He pivots well off his back foot and rotates through completely toward his target. At 3B, Tyler improved fielding and arm grades to 30's. He has soft hands, fields in an athletic position, and has a clean exchange with carry across the diamond. At the plate, Tyler has a square set-up, he loads well, and gets good extension through the ball. He has a line drive approach and shows signs of pull side pop. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Slower tempo through motion
2. More lower half
3. Stride Balance
Fielding
1. Lateral Range
2. Quicker Exchange
3. Quicker Release
Hitting
1. Stride Foot Timing
2. Balance
3. Bat Speed

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Tyler is a lean 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 53-55 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 4 years to further develop, Tyler has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
