12/14/2019 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Tyler is a coachable RHP/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Tyler gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a free arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Tyler shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 52mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 48-51mph with 11-5 break. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Tyler improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Tyler can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing to the ball. With six more years to develop, Tyler has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/20/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Conroe (Houston), TX Tyler is a young, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Tyler has a presentable glove, he centers well on his body, and he makes plays. He has a good glove angle, a clean exchange, and a long arm action with momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Tyler has good balance over the rubber, a good mound presence, and he lands with good direction toward home plate. Offensively, Tyler has a square stance, a short stride, and he makes contact. He puts the bat on the ball and can spray the ball to all fields. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
