Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Tyler is a tall RHP/OF prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Tyler gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Tyler shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph. Breaking ball sits from 68-72mph with late 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-72mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Tyler shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He fields with soft hands and has a quick exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, making on-line throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through a closed setup. He works through a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and great pull side power (87mph exit velo). Overall, Tyler is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Tyler is an athletic RHP who has a bright future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83 mph. Fastball shows good tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, he continues to shine with outstanding hitting abilities and well above average power potential through an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (84 mph exit velocity) with gap to gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Tyler has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
