09/16/2021 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Tyner showed well again at the Upperclass Pathway Event. Defensively, he showed a strong arm with the ability to carry the ball accurately to 1B. He exhibited a quick clean exchange allowing him to be efficient getting the ball out of glove. Tyner has improved his range by taking good angles to ground balls. Offensively, Tyner has a slightly closed stance with loose hands allowing him to barrel balls consistently through the middle of the field. He displayed a line drive approach with gap to gap power due to a good bat path and lower half. On the hill, Tyner had a good presence and was able to control his FB which had arm side run. His breaking ball carries a 11/5 shape with sharp break. All in all, Tyner is a very coachable player who will only continue to get better over time.

08/21/2021 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Tyner continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. Tyner works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will continue to improve with added foot speed and his frame allows him to cover a lot of ground. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Prospect stock will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and continues to work on foot speed.

07/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Richmond, VA Tyner is a tall, lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with solid power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Tyner has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
