08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Tyree is a muscular, athletic SS prospect who is a real team player. He shows some wheels out there, creating havoc on the base paths and displaying extended range at short. He has active feet that allow him to move well side to side and get to balls hit either way. He works through the ball when fielding and has a clean exchange to throw. Getting more reps will help him loosen up out there and make plays more smoothly. At the plate, Tyree has solid tracking ability, knowing how to pick out pitches and attack the one he wants. He uses his lower half to create drive and has a direct swing to the ball, extending through contact. Byrd has solid skills that we expect to keep developing as he gets older.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Tyree continues to show as a SS/RHP and continues to show improvements / progress in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a closed / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field and has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off bat when centered, displaying gap to gap power. At SS, defensive grade has improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach while presenting glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range in the mid 60 with breaking ball displaying 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard with the makings of a special type player at he continues to develop.

09/13/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Tyree is a skilled 2-way player as a SS/RHP who has an athletic build. With the bat, this righty shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he fires the barrel through a level path. He engages his lower 1/2 well and drives the ball with pop to all parts of the field. At SS, Tyree has active pre-pitch footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He presents his glove and fields the GB out in front. He has good range to his right and left and is sure handed. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. Arm action is smooth/easy as he drives off the rubber downhill toward the dish. He gets good glove side lead and repeats well. FB ranges from 65-67 mph while showing slight sink. Curveball is best off-speed pitch as it has 11/5 shape with sharp/late action. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Contact points
2. Extension through contact
Defense
1. Play through ball
2. Backhand
3. Transfer/exchange
Pitching
1. More lower 1/2 drive
2. Stay directional
3. Finish with extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
