11/07/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Tyrese is an excited young prospect with game-changing speed. He ran 6.51 in the 60 and may play even faster than that on the bases. In game play he twice singled and followed it up both times by stealing 2B and 3B. He has a clean, short stroke at the plate and sprays line drives to all fields. He has great life in his body and the kind of energy on the diamond that spills over to his teammates. He is a versatile defender with the ability to play nearly every position on the diamond though he probably projects best at 2B or perhaps CF at higher levels. Overall, this is the type of player that makes a team better.

07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Clayborne had a solid showing at the event in the OF He displays proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind in playing through with momentum to his target. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B. Once on base, he uses his foot speed to get around the bases and will steal a base.

05/10/2015 - College PREP - College Station, TX Tyrese is an exciting MIF prospect. A strong arm, speed and the all-around tool set is one to watch. Defensively, he has quick twitch actions and can cover some ground. He funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this righty has a balanced approach with rhythm to load. Bat speed is quick to and through a direct path as he connects with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched and utilizes the entire field. He gets out of the box and down the line (home to 1B in 3.97). His speed on the base paths will also create havoc on the defense as he's a threat to steal every time he's on base. Clayborn has a very bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
